ある日aru hi小さなchiisa na村muraにni旅するtabi suru吟遊詩人ginyuu shijinがga訪れたotozureta

One day, a travelling bard visited a small village

まだmada若いwakai少女shoujoでde旅tabiもmo慣れてなかったnarete nakattaけどkedo　歌utaにniはwa自信jishinがgaあるaru

Still young, a girl not yet used to journeying — but confident in her songs

少女shoujoはwa村muraのno中央chuuouにniあるaru広場hirobaにni座りsuwariリュートをryuuto wo弾きhiite唄い始めたutai hajimeta

The girl sat in the square at the center of the village, plucked her lute, and began to sing

でもdemo誰dareひとりhitoriもmo出てこなかったdete konakatta　聞こえていないのかkikoete inai no ka

But not a single person came out — could they not hear her?

悩んだ末にnayanda sue ni出てこないdete konaiならnara無理矢理muri yariでもdemo聞こえるようにkikoeru you niとto

After much deliberation, she thought: if they won't come out, I'll make them hear me by force

雷鳴raimeiのnoようにyou ni叫びsakebi唱ったutatta　それsoreがgaみんなminnaのno心kokoroをwo震わせたfuruwaseta

She cried out like a thunderclap and sang — and it shook everyone's hearts

出てきたdete kita村人たちmura bito tachiはwaみんなminna不気味なbukimi na形katachiをwoしてたshite ta

The villagers who came out all had strange, misshapen forms

少しsukoshi恐かったkowakattaけどkedoやがてyagate打ち解けてたuchi tokete ta　歌をuta wo唄うutauたびにtabi ni

She was a little frightened, but gradually warmed to them — every time she sang

「こんなkonnaわたしたちwatashitachiをwo見てもmite mo逃げないnigenaiとはto wa大したもんだtaishita mon da」

"That you don't flee even seeing us like this — that's quite something"

そう言うsou iu杖つくtsue tsukuお爺さんojii sanがga村長sonchoだったdatta　事情jijouをwo聞いてみたkiite mita

The old man on a cane who said this was the village elder — she asked what had happened

昔mukashi愚かなoroka na青年seinenがga居てite国王kokuouのno娘musumeとto恋をしたkoi wo shita

Long ago there was a foolish young man who fell in love with the king's daughter

ふたりでfutari de駆け落ちkakeoochiをwo企てたkuwadatetaけどkedo　そのsono途中でtochuu de捕まってしまったtsukamarete shimatta

The two of them plotted to elope, but were caught along the way

国王kokuouはwa冷たくtsumetaku言い放ったii hanatta

The king coldly declared:

「こいつkoitsuとtoそのsono子孫shisonにniまでmade及ぶoyobu異形ikeiのno呪いnoroiをwoかけてkakete野noにni捨てろとsutero to」

"Cast him and his descendants under a curse of disfigurement and throw them into the wild"

ある日aru hiみんなminnaがga言ってくれたitte kureta

Then one day, everyone said to her:

「あなたanataのno歌utaにniはwa不思議なfushigi na力chikaraがgaあるaru

"There is a mysterious power in your songs

曲がってたmagatte ta骨honeもmoこんなkonna真っ直ぐにmassugu ni　もうすぐmou sugu治りそうだnaori sou da」

Even my bent bones are this straight now — it seems I'll be healed soon"

毎日mainichiこうしてkou shiteこのkono村でmura de歌utaをwo聴かせてあげれればkikasete agereba

Every day like this, if I could sing for this village

呪いnoroiもmo解けるtokeru日hiがga来るkuru、、そうsou思い始めてたomoi hajimete ta　なんのnan no迷いmayoiもmoなくnaku

A day will come when the curse is broken — she had begun to believe that, without any hesitation

だけどdakedoそのsono噂uwasaがga広まりhiromari騎士kishiがga馬umaにni乗りnoriやってきてyatte kite

But then that rumor spread, and a knight came riding on horseback

少女shoujoをwo連れ去ってtsure satte城shiroのno深いfukai牢獄rouyaにni閉じこめたtoji kometa

He took the girl away and shut her in the deep dungeon of the castle

国王kokuouがga現れaraware「そのsono力chikaraはwa私watashiのnoためにtame ni使えtsukae」とto言うiu

The king appeared and said: "Use that power for me"

そんなのsonna noお断りだokotowari da!!

No way I'm doing that!

「ならそこでnara soko de一生isshou過ごすといいsugosu to ii」とto告げtsuge立ち去ったtachi satta

"Then spend the rest of your life in there," he declared and walked away

泣いてnaiteなんかnankaいられないirarenai　ここからkoko karaでもdemo歌utaをwo唄おうutaou

No time to cry — let me sing from here too

あの時ano tokiもmo届いたtodoita　さあsaa始めようhajimeyou《終わりのない歌》owari no nai utaをwo

It reached them back then — let's begin now, the song without end

長いnagai長いnagai時tokiがga過ぎたsugita　村muraにniもmoまたmata春haruがga訪れotozure

A long, long time passed — spring came again to the village

子供たちkodomo tachiはwa輪になりwa ni nari伝承denshouのno歌utaをwo謡うutau　旅人tabibitoがga残したnokoshita

The children form a circle and sing the song of legend — left by a traveller

少女shoujoはwaまだmada旅をしてたtabi wo shite ta　もちろんmochiron大好きなdaisuki na歌utaをwo唄いutai

The girl was still travelling — singing her beloved songs, of course

神様kamisama　叶うのならkanau no naraあのano村でmura deもう一度mou ichidoみんなにminna ni会いたいaitai

Dear God, if it's possible, I want to see everyone in that village once more

もうmouこの世kono yoにniあたしatashiはwaいないけれどinai keredo

Though I am no longer in this world
