I push my bicycle along again today

The traffic light that looks like a shadow

Flickers a little — it's dazzling

My face reflected in the rippling riverbank —

Even just a little more than yesterday,

The bare, withered row of trees that lost their leaves

Still trembles its branches in the blowing wind

The evening sun is about to set

おつきさまがotsukisama ga　にっこりとnikkori to

And waves

ひろばのさきのhiroba no saki no　かいだんにkaidan ni

I sit down on the steps past the square

こしかけてkoshikakete　まちをながめるmachi wo nagameru

And look out over the town

これでぼくはkore de boku wa　もういくよとmou iku yo to

"With this, I'm finally moving on" —

びゅんとbyun to　ふゆがふきぬけてったfuyu ga fukinuketetta

Winter whistled through in a flash

The unguarded town

At the end of a night where warmth lingers
